Lodge Farm Protest
On Saturday 1st October a large gathering of local residents assembled at Tollgate Farm to support a protest against the building of Lodge Farm Garden Village. Standing in the pouring rain, Jeremy Wright MP expressed his concern and worries about this proposed village and the impact it would have on local residents. Councillor Roberts and Councillor Emma Crane also spoke with apprehension regarding this massive development. Locals were advised to sign a petition or write to Rugby Borough Council declaring their anxieties.

Time to celebrate
On a sunny afternoon, 24 September 2016, Ron and Mavis Witts celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary and Mavis’ 80th birthday in Flecknoe Village Hall. This was a significant venue as this is where Ron and Mavis had their wedding reception after marrying in Flecknoe St Mark’s Church. Over 85 guests enjoyed an afternoon of delicious food and wine while reminiscing of past times. Two beautiful cakes were presented to Ron and Mavis created by Barbara Bentley. Kevan their elder son spoke well of his parents and their sixty years of life together in Flecknoe.

Parish Produce Show 2016
This year’s Produce Show has broken records with a bumper number of entries and entrants and a top score of fourteen children entering competitions. Deana Barnard entered the most entries and the ‘Flower Heads’ was the most popular competition. The ‘Lakin in the Garden’ Trophy was awarded to Deana Barnard by Chairman Bob Butcher. The Di Weaver Prize was presented to Luke Jarvis, as well as the Children’s Prize. April Knapp, our favourite commentator, thanked all the committee members, the volunteers and the hosts for organising our eighth inspiring gardening show.

It is harvest time again and our narrow country roads have to cope with tractors hauling heavy trailers as well as lighter traffic. Every driver is eager to get to his destination. Please be patient if you cannot pass, as some trailers are too heavy to pull over onto the verges. Tractor drivers do pull over to allow queuing traffic to pass so a thank you wave is always appreciated.
